Noridian has announced that they will become the new Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) for Jurisdiction E (JE), formerly Jurisdiction 1 (J1). This change covers providers in California, Hawaii, Nevada, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. The important dates to remember are:

New Medicare Administrative Contractor

New Medicare Administrative Contractor

August 26, 2013 – Part A implementation
September 16, 2013 – Part B implementation

According to Noridian they do not expect any payment delays to providers at the time of implementation. They also state that providers will not have to re-credential just due to the change of MAC’s, but there is still the possibility that a revalidation request may be sent to providers which would require submitting an updated CMS-855 application.
We will just have to wait and see how well the transition is handled by Noridian and Palmetto GBA. Here at Superior Medical Billing Solutions we have been attending the webinars and the Ask the Contractor tele-conferences to make sure our providers that are affected by this transition are prepared.
